On the right track

One of only two handheld titles on the GAME Award shortlist, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks made the cut over many more high-profile home releases for simply being one of the most inventive, charming and well-designed examples of the RPG genre on any system in 2009.

Like its DS forebear the Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks saw the brightly coloured, cel-shaded, wide-eyed version of Link questing across Hyrule via wonderfully simple stylus control, which even extended to scribbling down notes on a map pulled down from the top screen!

Packed with all of the things we'd come to expect from a Zelda game - dungeons, puzzles, memorable characters and more - Spirit Tracks USP was the ability to drive a train around the epic gameworld, and saw Link joined for once by the titular Princess Zelda herself in spirit form for an adventure that will live long in the memory of all who played it.

"Utterly superb as always. If you loved Phantom Hourglass or any of the Zelda games then you must buy this, its Legendary."

"Just as with the other Zelda games, this one does not disappoint! It was maybe easier than The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass but it has depth, lots of features and hours of gameplay. I like the way you can choose what to do and where to explore. Overall a firm favourite!"

"This game is amazing and I'm now trying to get hold of the previous Zelda game as I like it so much. It's really fun and imaginative, and I think it would appeal to a wide age range. Definitely the best game I've purchased so far."
