Not only does FIFA 10 feature all of the players, teams, kits, stadia and practically every important competition on the face of the planet, but it also plays a remarkable game on the pitch too - AND incorporates all sorts of online-specific features like weekly-updated stats and 10v10 online play, adding considerably to the experience.

Of course, all of that was true of last year's edition. So what's the difference? Well, the main bonus is that with an extra twelve months to beaver away at their award-winning football engine, Electronic Arts were able to refine absolutely every aspect of animation, player intelligence, ball flight and collision physics. All of which may sound like technical jiggery pokery, but essentially boiled down to a more physical, free-flowing and utterly satisfying football experience.
