In many respects Wii Sports Resort is the most important Nintendo product since the Wii itself. Bundled with the MotionPlus peripheral, it represents a huge jump forward in the sophistication of the console's industry-redefining motion control, with just the addition of a small plastic block to the bottom of the Wii Remote granting gamers fully lifelike on-screen recreations of every gesture, flick and twitch.

It also helped that the game was great fun! Continuing the popular Wii Sports template, it took players to a lush activity island populated with cute Miis, and offered a much wider array of challenges, from Archery to Wakeboarding, Duelling to Table Tennis and more; all absolutely hilarious with four players - if less immediate than the original, due to the MotionPlus' steeper learning curve.

With Microsoft's Natal and Sony's Wand on the horizon, 2010 will be huge for motion sensing gameplay. Wii sports Resort is the game to beat.

"This game is truly brilliant I honestly cannot say anything bad about the game it's truly fantastic and nothing compares to it. Just everything is so satisfying from wielding the saber in Swordplay to hitting the bulls-eye in Archery. But one problem of Wii sports is that when you bought a new game you didn't really need to go back to it and only used it as a demonstration tool when showcasing it to friends and family. However, with Wii Sports Resort I find myself addicted at it and am currently averaging seven hours a day playing it. Even if you have to trade in a couple of hard to let go games it is completely worth it."
