Easily one of the best PlayStation 3 games yet, Uncharted 2 pushed the PS3's Cell processor to the very brink of its powers with devastatingly gorgeous visuals and a richly playable blend of Tomb Raider's athletic adventure-platforming and Gears of War's gripping gunplay.

The journey began in a way more reminiscent of movies than games, seeing our hero Nathan 'descendant of Francis' Drake dangling from a train carriage hanging perilously over an icy cliff face. No sooner had players scrambled to solid ground, they were then flung back into the immediate past; pilfering treasure from a Turkish museum, trekking to the jungles of Borneo, surviving a citywide battlefield in urban Nepal and discovering a snow-topped village in the Himalayas, as they raced a war criminal to the mythical kingdom of Shambhala.

Add in tons of treasures to find, an enjoyable co-op mode and a surprisingly accomplished multiplayer suite, and you've a certified modern classic.

"A masterpiece, people who don't own a PS3 buy one and get this game straight away. Best game of the year!"

"This game is what makes the PS3 worth every penny. I defy anyone to find a game as good or beautiful on any other system. The graphics are stunning and the story has put to shame every movie I have seen this year. To top it off the game comes with a wickedly hard but cool multiplayer that will keep you riveted to your seat for days. Naughty Dog keep up the good work, we hope to see more of Nathan Drake in the future."

"A brilliant achievement in gaming, great storytelling; incredible graphics, animation that brings it all together and makes it almost believable. The length, the challenges and even the bit of odd humour makes it one of the greatest games of all time."
