The first Assassin's Creed plunged players into the Crusades era and into the midst of a hidden battle between the evil Templars and the Assassins, fighting over the mysterious and powerful Pieces of Eden. And players loved it!

The creators, though - they weren't happy. They thought they could do more. With Assassin's Creed II, they set out to blow away the first game. The result was a game of astonishing scope in every facet of its gameplay, gameworld and story; packed with missions to take, things to collect and mysteries to uncover - all brought to life with a flair and artistry few developers could touch.

Whether you favoured stealth or head-on combat, racing across the rooftops of Renaissance Italy as Ezio Auditore was one of 2009's most exhilarating and beautiful experiences, answering the series' critics, and gaining it an army of new followers in the process.

"This game is so easy to sum up... PERFECT! Such an improvement on the first game, which was already fantastic. I can't stop playing. An incredible game. Ubisoft have made a great game even better. Definitely my choice for G.O.T.Y! It's an easy 10/10. You simply must buy it!"

"This is everything (and more) that the first Assassins Creed should've been. It's not repetitive in the slightest, and it's just great fun to play. On top of that, it looks beautiful and it has a pretty good story. Definitely worth a buy 9.5/10"

"If you thought the first one was good you've seen nothing yet! This is the game of the decade! The storyline is intense and has lots of twists in it, the side missions provide hours of extra play, and the endless quests for codex pages, seals, treasure and feathers is endless. The weapons side of this game is nothing short of astonishing and magnificent, not only do you get very good weapons but you get to buy your own, and your own armour. The counter kills and other features in this game are visually stunning, from the crisp blue canals of Venice, to the sunny well lit city of Florence. This game has something for everyone and is very, very, very, entertaining to play and leaves you craving more! 10/10, 5 Stars, MUST GET!!!"
